Manchester College sends out a survey (survey link edited out)
Dear Timothy,

Over the past few weeks, you have received several invitations to complete a brief on-line survey concerning your experience with the admissions process at Manchester College

So far, over 250 of your fellow admitted students have given their opinions by completing the survey.  Our goal is to have at least 475 completed interviews, so please help us by completing the survey now.  It will only take a few minutes, and upon completion of the survey you will be entered in the drawing to receive a $100 cash prize.

Our survey is confidential, so please take this opportunity to be direct and candid.  Your insights will help us to better serve future applicants.

Please click on the link below to access the survey

Best wishes,
Dave McFadden

Sam corrects Falcon's grammar
Falcon,
It looks like you could use the Student Success Workshops based on your spelling and grammatical errors in your last email.
coach = Coach (should be capitalized because it is the beginning of a letter)
Schedual = Schedule
Barrow = Borrow
term D's get degrees = term "D's get degrees"
Sitck = Stick
falcon = Falcon (In this case Falcon is a proper noun)
Haha. Just trying to stick up for you coach.

Guys,  those PERC positions I emailed you about needed some clarification.  They are requiring that you have CPR certification.  If you had a PERC job last year Coach Marlowe will be offering a CPR class on one night after school starts.  For those who did not work at the PERC, you need to get CPR cert. on your own.  The PERC jobs are probably some of the best on campus so if you want one, it would be a good idea to look into getting certified before you get to school.  Check with your local hospital.  They usually have cheap or free CPR classes open to the public.

coach,
 I already know how to manage my time well, in fact looking through my schedual on those days I am already booked solid.
Also note taking all the guys need to learn is sit next to the smart kid and copy their notes and or tests.
Study skills...books? you know text books are trully overrated and expensive again if need be just barrow the smart kids, or use pinkmonkey.com for great summaries.
And finally test taking.. haven't these guys heard the term D's get degrees
Sitck with me guy's I will show you how to trully suceed in college

THIS IS A REQUIREMENT!  I EXPECT EACH OF YOU TO ATTEND ALL FOUR WORKSHOPS.  SOME OF YOU WILL BE REQUIRED APART FROM WRESTLING.

I know, I suck...get used to it.  Hey, I guarantee that you'll learn something that will help you in your academic and probably your professional lives.

Subject: Student Success Workshops

Dear Colleagues,

The Success Center has scheduled Academic success workshops during the first 4 weeks of the semester.  Eight sessions will be offered each week on a specific topic.  Posters will be distributed throughout the campus. Flyers announcing each week’s workshop topic/schedule will be placed in student mailboxes 1 week in advance announcing the upcoming week’s workshop topic/schedule.  Information will be e-mailed to professors, coaches, and the student development staff with a note asking them to announce the workshops to students.  We hope they will encourage student participation.  You are free to provide whatever incentive you see fit for your students—particularly first-year students--to attend.

Students on academic probation will be required to attend one workshop each week.  Attendance at these workshops will count towards their required meetings with me during the first month of classes.  ADAPT students will also be required to attend one workshop each week.

Topic:  Time Management (Using a planner, managing your time, avoiding procrastination, and succeeding in college)

Topic:  Listening and Note Taking (Being an active listener, using effective listening skills, listening for key information and cues, organizing your notes, utilizing mind maps and study guides, and creating effective flash cards)

Topic: Study Skills (Reading and studying college textbooks, studying: why, when and how, understanding and remembering)

Topic: Test-taking (Reducing anxiety, preparing for exams, using memory techniques, and succeeding on college exams)

With the exception of September 18th all workshop sessions will be held in the Shepherd Room.  Students will be asked to register so we will know how many students to expect and can prepare the appropriate amount of materials. These look like excellent opportunities and we will count on your support.

Thanks,

Glenn

Tim,

When you come on July 1st for Advising and Registration Day, you will be completing a writing sample while you’re here to place you in the appropriate English course.  You should be here for the 8:30 athletics meeting, then we’ll let you know where to go for the writing sample when you come to the Union at 9AM after athletics.  There is nothing to prepare for…again, it will just help us place you in the appropriate class.

We'll see you on Tuesday next week!

-Greg
